Comparison is stealing your joy

Social media takes the blame for comparison quite often. And that makes sense, doesn't it? Social media is like the perfect breeding ground for comparison because that's where every one posts the best of their lives.

Vacation photos, happy relationship posts, adorable and happy children, fit body images, outfit of the day, and more. It can be hard to maintain perspective when confronted with perfect lives, perfect relationships, perfect bodies, perfect kids and more day after day.

However, I'm not going to place all the blame on social media. We have to take responsibility for what we are consuming as well. I don't have to follow accounts that make me feel badly about myself, after all. I can choose to follow only accounts that inspire me to be better and encourage me to love myself and be grateful for my life if I choose.

My guess is that, if I'm comparing myself to others on social media, it's probably because I was already feeling insecure or unhappy with an area of myself or my life. Social Media may have made me aware of the problem which is actually helpful because now I can address it.

If you find that you are feeling worse about things after scrolling through social media, then by all means, unfollow some people. You don't need anything in your life that makes you feel badly about yourself.

However, after doing that, we want to figure out what the cause of that is and put our healing focus there. We aren't going to judge ourselves for feeling that way but we don't want to just unfollow people and then ignore the place that needs attention.

If you find that you feel awful after seeing people on social media who are living lives of financial freedom and abundance, for instance, then you should ask yourself why that is. Is it because you are in debt? Or maybe you hate your job and you long for more freedom. Or maybe it's because you've always wanted to start your own business but you are sure you'd fail so you don't even try.

Whatever it is, you have the power to do something about it. You can't necessarily control whether people will buy your product if you start a business but you do have the power to control whether you try and start that business in the first place.

Never let fear keep you from trying to reach your dreams or create the life you want. You are worthy and capable!

As long as you push it down and act like the desire isn't there, the more pain you'll feel.

If you wish you had a fit and healthy body like the people you are following, then let's get to the gym! We aren't aiming for perfection here or to have bodies like anyone else. My desire is to be my own #bodygoals. The goal is to be the best, healthiest, happiest version of yourself FOR yourself.

You can have the free life full of love and joy and good health but we won't have any of that by comparing ourselves with anyone.

Operate in love here and be happy for the people that you see on social media. They are proof that it can be done and that's a great thing! Cheer them on while you work on yourself and toward your goals.

Girl, you got this!
