Some of my favorite current photographers: Volume 1
Photography has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember. My love for it grew while taking a photography class in high school where we mostly learned how cameras work and made a pin-hole camera but also learned about the art of photography.
Anyone can work a basic camera and take photos. However art is about more than that. When I look at a photographer’s body of work, I want to understand their perspective and feel something. That doesn’t mean that the subject matter has to be extraordinary. I’ve had photographs of benches, cups, and beds stop me and hold my attention for quite a while.
What makes a photographer interesting is their eye for the world around them and our interaction with that work and perspective. The following are some current photographers that I love to follow on Instagram.
Cole finds beauty in every day travels. His talent lies in his ability to notice interesting details in ordinary things.
The light and movement.

I love how ordinary it is. It’s just a bed and yet there is that eye for shadow and story.

Wagner’s work focuses on people. He isn’t afraid to get close and there is an obvious respect for the people he photographs on the street. I love the connection in this photograph.

Aside from having photographed some of my favorite hip-hop artists ( Lecrae and Propaganda to name a couple) he notices and captures beauty in everyday moments.
I love the context and he shot it at just the right fraction of a second.

The lighting sets the mood and it feels like an old-school photo. The car, the graffiti, the fire escape…
